A Practical Introduction to Javascript // TECH 463
Justin Michaliga, Interactive Designer and Developer
Wednesday, August 3rd from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
In this course, students will learn the fundamental Javascript tools that allow developers to make basic HTML content more engaging and interactive. The class will use examples of already packaged Javascript libraries that have been proven examples of industry standards.
The class will teach students to use these techniques as well as the fundamentals to create these examples using straight Javascript. An understanding of basic HTML and CSS is required.
The five-week course will cover the following topics:
- What Javascript can and cannot do
- The fundamentals of the Javascript language
- The differences between Javascript and Javascript libraries
- Examples of initiating jQuery plugins
- Re-creating jQuery with straight Javascript
- Advanced implementations of the jQuery plugin created by adding layers of fundamental Javascript
